My husband, mother and son visited St. Lucia on October 31st to November 3rd, 2019. It was not our first time visiting the island but our first time not renting a vehicle. Instead we opted to use a service to pick us up from the Airport and take us to the hotel and do the opposite at the end of our trip. We did some research and emailed Islander who was extremely prompt and responsive to all our emails. We realized that we were off to a good start!

The experience was even better than we anticipated. Our driver, Bernard,  was outside the airport waiting on us with a clearly identified sign. He quickly and happily greeted us and went for his vehicle to transport us. The ride was very comfortable and Bernard was very cordial and pleasant.

He took us safely to the hotel and picked us up on November 3rd for our return in the same fashion as he had done a few days prior.

 We will definitely utilise this service again!

While we here at St Lucia Transportation offer all manner of ground transportation from airport shuttle service to VIP transit, we admit that there are some things even we can’t do.  We can give you the best ground service on the island, for example, but we can’t give you a bird’s eye view of the entire island at once.  No, in order to experience that, you will have to book a St. Lucia helicopter tour.  These tours are excellent for groups, as the prices come down considerably when there are more than four people flying, and they give you the opportunity to see the island from a vantage point that few travelers ever get to experience.

Why book a St. Lucia tour by helicopter?  Well, while land tours are a great way to explore our famous mud baths and botanical gardens, you haven’t really experienced the splendor of St. Lucia until you’ve been up in the air, taking in both the majesty of the mountains and the lush splendor of the rain forest simultaneously.  See the Pitons as you’ve never seen them before and enjoy the ride while basking in the green grasses of St. Lucia amid a sparkling blue Caribbean backdrop.

Everybody has something they are known for, from the Eiffel Tower in France to the Great Pyramids of Egypt.  Here in St. Lucia we have many remarkable destinations, from the world’s only drive-in volcano to lush tropical rainforests.  There is little doubt, however, that our biggest landmark is our twin peaks- The Piton Mountains.    Measuring 2,619 and 2,461 feet respectively, Gros and Petit Piton are definitely steeped in history for natives of St. Lucia.  The mountains have served the locals well in historical times of unrest, and they have provided locals and travelers alike with quite a challenge as they strive to reach the top.


For those of you who haven’t yet arrived on the island or who are unfamiliar with St. Lucia, the Piton Mountains are located quite close to the historic town of Soufriere, where many of the island’s biggest attractions are situated.  It is important to note that while you can certainly hire an experienced guide to help you up the rough terrain of Petit Piton, Gros Piton is the only mountain hike sanctioned by the island’s government.  The hike generally takes a couple of hours, and the view from the top is something that you have to experience to believe, as it is simply too stunning to put into words.


If you are visiting St. Lucia for the first time or have never been to the Pitons, we here at St. Lucia Transportation highly recommend a visit.  We would be happy to be your transportation of choice whether you want to climb the mountains or simply wish to see them up close and personal.  The Piton Mountains are certainly a major part of St. Lucia- we even named our local beer after them!
